About Me

As a member of a distributed Scrum team, I played an integral role in developing a scalable employee management system using Angular, Spring Boot, and MySQL. My responsibilities spanned both front-end and back-end development, utilizing technologies like TypeScript, Bootstrap, Java, and Node to build responsive UIs and optimize database interactions.

Working closely with the team, I adhered to Agile practices, contributing to sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospective meetings. I applied test-driven development methodologies to ensure code quality, conducting both unit and end-to-end testing to guarantee robust functionality. With a focus on UX design principles, I ensured the application delivered a seamless and user-friendly experience. Additionally, I optimized code for multithreading, implemented security authentication, and integrated AI components.

Previously, I was a Solutions Engineer adept at seamlessly merging technical prowess with exceptional client interaction, I am dedicated to crafting optimized user experiences through code and creativity. My background extends from troubleshooting intricate technical challenges, refined during my tenure as an Audio Visual Technician, to proficiently collaborating with clients, bridging the gap between complex tech concepts through relatable terms. My versatility shines in web development, coupled with video engineering, photography, and technical event production.

I developed this expertise through my Computer Science degree from Carleton College, situated in picturesque, rural Northfield, Minnesota - a town affectionately known as the city of Cows, Colleges, and Contentment (I'm serious). With a multicultural heritage encompassing American and British cultures combined with the diversity of growing up in Los Angeles, California, I approach the ever-evolving technology landscape with a unique perspective. My journey from an inquisitive and technically inclined child to mastering complex code dependencies underscores my growth. My unyielding curiosity propels me to explore the nexus of technology, science, culture, and the wider world, reminiscent of the fascination with the every-day kindled by "How It's Made." This curiosity fuels my passions spanning space and astronomy, cybersecurity, live event production, client support, and sustainable energy solutions.

My experiences have endowed me with a profound appreciation for the delicate interplay between code, creativity, and client satisfaction. This diverse skill set positions me as a dynamic professional adept at crafting holistic solutions that seamlessly intertwine technology and human interaction.

Additionally, there are a few projects that I'm particularly proud of:

  • A Chrome extension TabSaver to easily save tabs to restore later in order to free up browser resources
  • A simulation of wind turbines to better optimize placement in a wind farm, based on simulation data using the Lattice-Boltzmann algorithm
  • A visualization of historical and projected energy use in the US broken down by fuel type built using the D3 JavaScript library
  • A 3D realtime graphics engine — both from-scratch using C starting from a basic rasterizer up to 3D lighting and rendering, and an OpenGL hardware engine which includes shadow mapping and shaders
  • An interactive Scheme interpreter built in C
  • A 2D player-vs-player fighting game built in JavaFX
  • A dynamically built website for searching for alternative fuel source stations across the United States (such as ethanol, electric, or hydrogen) built with Flask and PostgreSQL
